Brand Kits 101: Why Consistency is Your Secret Marketing Weapon
Inconsistent branding costs you recognition and trust. Canva's Brand Kit centralizes your colors, fonts, and logos so every design looks like it came from the same company.
Research consistently shows that brand recognition increases purchase likelihood by up to 33%. The foundation of recognition is consistency — and the biggest threat to consistency is designing without a system. Canva's Brand Kit is that system.
What a Brand Kit Includes
- Brand colors: Your primary, secondary, and accent HEX codes, stored and accessible in every Canva design.
- Brand fonts: Your headline, subheading, and body fonts — including any custom fonts you've uploaded.
- Logos: Your primary logo, secondary logo, and any icon variations in multiple formats.
Setting Up Your Brand Kit
- In Canva, go to Brand Kit in the left sidebar.
- Click Add a color and enter your brand HEX codes. Add all variations — primary, secondary, neutrals, and accent. If your brand already has a logo, you can extract its exact colors from the logo file first, then paste those HEX codes here.
- Upload your logo files (SVG or PNG with transparent background).
- Set your brand fonts (or upload custom ones).
- Save. From now on, these appear at the top of every color picker and font selector in Canva.
Finding Your Brand Colors If You Don't Have Them Yet
If you're building your brand identity from scratch, start with inspiration — a mood board image, a competitor you admire, or a photo that captures how you want your brand to feel. Upload that image to ColorSense to extract the dominant colors, get their HEX codes, and check their WCAG contrast ratios. Then paste those HEX codes directly into your Canva Brand Kit. If you're building a SaaS or software product, our roundup of the best SaaS color schemes of 2026 shows how top products approach palette choices across different product categories.
Once your palette is set, you can also sync your ColorSense palettes directly into your Canva Brand Kit — so any palette you extract is one click away inside any Canva design.
The Compounding Effect of Consistency
Every on-brand post you publish makes the next one more powerful. After 30–50 consistent posts, your audience will recognize your content before they read a word. That recognition is brand equity — and it's built one HEX code at a time.
