Canva's Brand Voice AI: How to Write Copy That Stays On-Brand
Canva's Brand Voice trains an AI on your brand's tone so it can write captions and copy that actually sound like you. Here's how to set it up.
Visual consistency is half the battle — the other half is voice consistency. Canva's Brand Voice feature (part of Canva for Teams and Canva Pro) lets you define your brand's communication style so that AI-generated copy matches your actual tone, not generic filler text.
Setting Up Brand Voice
- Go to your Brand Kit in Canva.
- Look for Brand Voice and click to add it.
- Enter a description of your brand's personality — you can write this manually or paste in examples of your best copy and let Canva analyze it.
- Define your tone: formal/informal, playful/serious, inspirational/educational, etc.
- Save. The AI writing assistant in Canva will now apply this voice when generating suggestions.
Getting Good Results from the AI
- Provide 3–5 examples of your best copy when setting up Brand Voice. The more concrete examples you give, the better the AI understands your style.
- Specify your audience in the brand description — "speaks to ambitious female entrepreneurs in their 30s" produces very different output than "speaks to small business owners."
- Edit the output — AI copy is a starting point, not a finished product. Your edits also help the system learn over time.
Voice + Visuals = Complete Brand Consistency
The most recognizable brands are consistent in both visuals and language. While Canva handles your voice, use ColorSense to keep your visual palette locked in. Together, consistent colors and consistent copy create an unmistakable brand identity across every piece of content you publish.
