Canva for Instagram: How to Design a Cohesive Feed
A cohesive Instagram feed isn't about posting the same thing over and over — it's about a consistent system. Here's how to build that system in Canva.
When someone visits your Instagram profile, they make a decision about following you within seconds — based almost entirely on how your grid looks. A cohesive feed communicates professionalism, intentionality, and trust before a single caption is read.
The Three Pillars of Feed Cohesion
- Consistent color palette — every post should share the same 3–5 brand colors. No single post should feel like it belongs to a different account.
- Consistent typography — same font family across all text-based posts.
- Consistent composition style — whether you use centered text, overlaid photos, or flat-lay graphics, pick a style and stick with it.
Building Your System in Canva
- Create a Brand Kit with your exact HEX codes and chosen fonts.
- Design 3–5 post templates (quote card, tip post, photo post, announcement) that all use the same palette and typography.
- Every new post starts from one of these templates — never from scratch.
- Use Canva's Content Planner to preview how posts will look together before publishing.
Finding Your Feed Palette
Not sure what colors represent your brand? Upload a photo that captures the feeling you want your account to project into ColorSense. Extract the dominant palette, build your Brand Kit around those HEX codes, and apply them consistently across every template in Canva.
