5 Free Color Palette Generators Compared (Real Tests, No Sponsorships)
There are dozens of free color palette generators online. Here are the five that genuinely work — tested with the same reference image — and where each one beats the others.
The web is full of color palette generators, but most of them do the same thing slightly differently. To compare them usefully, we ran the same reference image (a sunset landscape with strong oranges, deep purples, and a small bright yellow accent) through five popular tools and looked at what each returned. Here's how they actually differ.
1. ColorSense
ColorSense returned five colors in roughly two seconds: a dominant deep purple, a warm orange, a soft pink-orange, a near-cream, and a small saturated yellow. Doesn't really do image extraction — it's a different paradigm. Best for: designers who want a tool that "learns" their aesthetic.
5. Paletton
